Today's Photo -a photo/drawing -manually-enhanced photo - of stained ceiling tiles.
(Photo/drawing is the form of art I wrote about in WR-Issue 2. You can see more at www.naturesplayground.com)
A friend of mine, out of our interaction and sharing of photos, has started finding images in things she looks at also. She recently commented that while lying on an exam table in her doctor's office, she was staring at the ceiling when a yucky brown, water-stained tile loomed into view. She declared that after a week of staring at my "enzymes," she automatically started to look for images.
Upon hearing about this experience, I instantly remembered the photograph and drawing I had done of ceiling tiles a few years ago. Looking up while in a class, I began to notice stained tiles right above my head. Thrilled that I had my camera, I grabbed it and took a few shots.
Check out the original ceiling tile photo if you'd like to compare.
The Imagery -
This is actually a photo with which I did not identify other images. I was simply observing and appreciating the colors, textures and patterns when it caught and continued to capture my attention.
Once I brought attention to it, a couple of people made comments of things they started observing:
"I see 1/4 of a blueberry pie. To the right of it, someone has eaten out a big chunk." Another stated,
"This reminds me, simultaneously, of a slide prepared for a microscope and stained glass. Plus there's that Mondrianesque division off the center of it."
Self-Reflecting Queries -
I invite you to look around areas where you live and work, including up and down. Are there things there that you take for granted and/or things you've been ignoring because you do not like the way they look or feel? Perhaps you've never even noticed them?
Look closely. What could you now say about what you are seeing that is different, that might empower you?
In addition to the visual, are there things going on in your life that if you looked at from a fresh perspective might take on a whole new meaning?
If so, are there actions you can take? Will you?
Have fun on your discovery path!
